I-I-I want you to have a successful career. I have decided to list you as the arresting officer on all future reports. But you're senior officer. I know. But you deserve to be recognized.
| ANATOMY OF A SCENE - CHENFORD EDITION 4.18 - Backstabbers
The scene we've all been waiting for since Tim uttered the words save me a dance… and apparently so has he. There's something to be said about the fact that he had been looking forward to dancing with Lucy so much so that the moment they're finally alone, he immediately brings it up. That it happens at another wedding makes this even better. They've come full circle. If anything, it actually emphasises how much their relationship has blossomed since Angela's wedding. They've grown closer, getting even more comfortable with each other outside of work and in their personal life. There was a tentativeness when he asked for a dance the first time that has disappeared. Lucy looked a bit bashful then, whereas now she's just thrilled. Tim looks so carefree, which is not a word he's usually associated with. As a matter of fact, the last time he acted like this was also with her… when he was retelling his goat story. They're just being themselves, without ever feeling self-conscious around the other. They are simply in their own bubble, slow dancing to a music they're not paying attention to, forgetting the world around them… under fairy lights making the atmosphere completely romantic. The smile on his face when he spins her around is pure joy and happiness. The way they look at each other… she keeps looking at his lips and he's gazing at her so lovingly… There's a certain irony in the fact that they're both in relationships, and still, they never look at their partners like that… not even remotely close. This moment is full of love and adoration. And respect.
This is another part that mirrors the original scene as well. Back at Angela's wedding, Tim was praising Lucy for her success on her first solo undercover op. This time, he takes a step further and shows how much he values her and her abilities by letting her take credit on all future reports. He may be dismissive at first, be it with her pursuing undercover work or her being (rightfully) upset about having her achievements downplayed or credited to someone else… but he actually pays attention to what Lucy says and reflects on his actions, on how he can do or be better. Because at the end of the day, he wants her to succeed and will always support her. Lucy's reaction is incredibly touching. She looks moved, to the point where she deflects a bit and takes the occasion to fluster him. But it's apparent how much it means to her to have his understanding and his approval, considering her lack of support system outside her Mid-Wilshire family… and considering her best friend is no longer there. His unwavering faith is so important : not just because he was her training officer, but because he's someone she respects and admires a lot. His I know alone says so much on how he feels. The tone he's using is so soft. The way they always go to bat for each other is really special… combined with their joy at being together, and it makes this moment that much sweeter. They always manage to blur the lines, talking about their personal lives in the shop, talking about work in a private setting. And that dichotomy between the romantic atmosphere and their conversation about the job just works perfectly for them.

In my personal opinion, I think this scene is setting it up for Tamara to move in with Tim and Lucy. Here's my reasoning, in chronological order:
Why have Tamara move in with Lucy in the first place? At the end of S3, Tamara was set to move into transitional housing and was only sleeping on Lucy and Jackson's couch until her apartment was ready. When the actor playing Jackson decided to leave the show, they killed off West, and decided to move Tamara in as Lucy's official roommate...in the same season that they were going to have Chenford discover their feelings for each other. So why move her in? Lucy didn't need a temporary roommate. She mentioned in S2 that she was happy to be living alone and only let Jackson move in because he needed a place to live and needed help finding balance in his life. So there's no good reason to have Tamara move in with Lucy just until Chenford gets together and moves into their own place, and then kick her to the curb. At that point, you might as well just have moved her into transitional housing.
When Chris and Lucy talked about moving in together, he was willing to allow Tamara to move with them. Why even add this line into the script if Tamara's just going to move out anyways? This line was only truly necessary if it's to show the difference between Chris and Tim: Chris allowing Tamara to move with them because she's important to Lucy and Tim wanting Tamara to move in with him and Lucy because she's important to both of them.
When Tamara first mentions moving out, Lucy looks stunned, hurt, taken aback. Typically, if you have a roommate and you're getting serious with your significant other, you start thinking of a life without your roommate. Even after her conversation with Chris, Lucy has yet to entertain the idea of Tamara moving out. If the writers were gearing up for Tamara moving out when Chenford moves in together, Lucy would have been prepared, happy, over-the-moon, rather than dreading the concept of living with Tim without Tam.
Tamara's reasoning for moving out consists of her feeling like she's a burden. The poor girl has been kicked to the curb by so many different people over the course of her life that she can't fathom how anyone would want her around. If the writers were gearing up for Tamara moving out, they would show her happy for Chenford, not re-traumatized by thinking she's a burden on their happiness.
Tim, Tamara, and Lucy all have a lot of scars, but the thing is that they can help each other heal those scars when they're together. Tamara can learn what it's actually like to be taken care of, rather than having to take care of herself. She can learn what it's like to be protected and loved. Lucy can have a husband and a daughter who love, value, and support her, regardless of her decisions. And Tim, who's always worried that he's going to turn out to be like his father, can rest assured that he won't be because Tamara knows what abusive father figures look like and Tim's not one of them. Also, he's always wanted a wife and children - he thought he would have had kids by now - and he can have that with Lucy and Tamara if they move-in together.

Chenford + are you jealous?
Not too sure how I feel about that one so I might delete it soon...
Prompt: Lucy took Tim’s advice and went to Undercover School, meeting Noah Foster. The two get close and when coming back to Los Angeles, Tim finds out about Noah…
Lucy watched Tim walk away after having a conversation about UC school. When Tim just wanted to support her career, she took the conversation as a professional break-up. Tim’s way of hinting that they needed to move on from what had happened during their undercover mission. She snapped back to reality when she heard Chris calling for her, walking back into her apartment and deciding it was time for her to have a conversation with her boyfriend. She needed to tell him the truth and admit that despite all her efforts, their relationship was in a dead-end. Surprisingly, Chris felt the same way and after a little talk, he left after wishing her the best of luck for UC school.
Lucy left the next morning to Sacramento. The anxiety creeped in her as she walked into a crowded room, meeting other officers. Yet, she clicked with a person in particular, Noah Foster. They were close in age and had similar backgrounds which allowed them to open-up and feel comfortable spending time together. They found themselves hanging out before and after classes, debriefing and talking about their lives outside of work. It had been a week since Lucy and Tim last talked and she missed him deeply yet never truly spoke to Noah about him besides a few stories now and then. She was trying to just make sense of everything that happened between them, trying to stay hopeful about what the future had in store for them.
Noah and Lucy partnered up and created undercover personas together, deciding that they would act as a married couple with children for one of Noah’s missions. They had rehearsed their backstories before they finished UC school, promising that they would always have each other’s backs when needed.
—
It had been a few days since Lucy came back from Sacramento. When she got back to the station, she kept to herself and kept some distance between her and Tim. Being back to Mid-Wilshire after a month away felt different, and the day continued getting weirder when she saw Noah walk into the station, giving her a smile. “Hot pants!” Noah called out, a wide smile on her face as he reached Lucy. He gave her a big hug. “I didn’t expect to see you again so soon. I’m here for my mission, I’m gonna need help. I almost got ambushed yesterday…” He began explaining to her before their conversation drifted towards more personal topics. They shared some laughs and hugs, being close.
Lucy hadn’t noticed Tim standing in the bullpen, watching the two of them in the distance. He had his hands resting on his duty belt, in his classic Tim Bradford stance. He observed the two of them carefully, noticing how close they seemed to be. It suddenly hit him, jealousy taking over his body as he observed Noah hugging Lucy once again, but kissing her cheek this time before they got into the roll call room. He did not realize he was late for roll call until he heard a voice behind him. “Hey Bradford!” Angela spoke, a smirk on her face. “Forgot you have a job? What’s wrong with you?” She asked, yet knowing exactly what was going on.
Tim immediately shook his head and glanced over at his best friend, rolling his eyes. “Mind your business, Lopez.” He growled before hurrying to the roll call room, sitting down at the back of the room. He found himself staring at Lucy, quickly looking away when his eyes met hers. They hadn’t had a chance to talk yet, something that was to change as Grey assigned the two of them together. Noah would be riding with them as he knew Lucy and she was familiar with the case he was working.
—
Lucy and Noah chatted as Tim drove, causing him to be tense and rather grumpy. He desperately wanted Noah to shut up and get into someone else's shop, yet he knew damn well he had to tolerate the situation as he had no other choice at the moment. Noah’s phone suddenly buzzed, receiving a call from his station to provide him information about his targets.
“Hot pants, give me a few seconds…” Noah said as he grabbed his phone, immediately answering the call.
Tim glanced over Lucy when he heard the nickname, feeling his heart drop. He gave her a rather disgusted face, trying to contain the rage he felt deep down inside. “Hot pants?” He repeated, his tone down as to not disrupt Noah’s call. Lucy immediately turned her face to meet Tim’s eyes, giving him an innocent look. “That’s an inside joke.” She laughed before noticing how tense Tim looked. He had a tight grip on the steering wheel which accentuated his arms muscles. Her smile slowly faded as she slowly realized that Tim was jealous. “Tim…” She began saying before Tim cut her off. “Later, Chen.”
—
After a long day, they successfully helped Noah’s mission. Tim and Lucy walked into the station, knowing that they had to talk. They went to get changed and met in the parking lot. Tim’s eyes were darker than usual and he remained as tense as he had been in the morning. “Tim, let me explain…” Lucy tried before Tim cut her off once again. “Lucy, I have eyes. I get it. I made you go to UC school and you met someone else. It’s fine. I’m happy for you.” He said without meaning the ending. “Noah’s probably waiting for you, I don’t know why you’re standing here with me.” He added as he headed towards his truck before he felt Lucy grabbing his hand, stopping him from getting away. “Tim.” She said again, this time her tone was more firm. “Can you let me talk? Noah is just a friend. We bonded at UC school but nothing happened between the two of us… In fact, he knows about how I feel for you. He was quite pleased to meet the Bradford I kept referring to.” She admitted, a blush spreading on her face. “Yes, I thought you were pushing me away when you came to encourage me to go to Sacramento. Being away from you just made me realize you are the one I want, Tim.”
Tim listened to Lucy attentively, noticing how close to one another they were. He searched Lucy’s face, feeling his heart rushing in his chest. He suddenly felt stupid for jumping to conclusions. Looking back, it had been clear that they were friends and not lovers. He could also tell that Noah sensed Tim’s jealousy and played along to tease him. He let out a deep sigh, looking quickly around them before kissing Lucy softly, keeping the kiss short to not get caught. “You’re so hot when you’re jealous though…” Lucy teased Tim, laughing with him as they headed to their cars.

Thoughts on The Rookie 6x02
This might include some repeats of things I've already said/posted, but I wanted to include it here just to get all of my thoughts in one place lol
Daddy Cop 😂😂😂😂😂😂
For a hot second, I thought it was the wrong episode
The choir showed up and then the guitarist. PURE GOLD I LOVE IT SO MUUUCCCHHH
Nolan was so pissed 🤣
Henry called Bailey. Too cute
Nolan literally had a jump scare seeing Randy 😂 He's so unhinged and I love it every time
Luna is always wonderful. She's close to everyone under her husband's command too
Tim shutting his office door with Lucy standing outside was so despondent :(
Yes, the angst is there, but so is the humor, and that, overall, out-weighed the angst. The humor on this show is always top tier. I'm always here for it
The scene between Lucy, Tim, and Angela is one of my favorites, tbh. Angela is such a chaos gremlin and I love her for it. And more Chenford arguing. It's not light hearted like it usually is, but I like to see the different sides to their relationship.
Angela: Let what go? Tim and Lucy: Nothing.
... Tim: Fine. Whatever. Lucy: Great. Angela: Maybe I'll go too. Grab some popcorn on the way for the show Tim: You're not funny Angela: I'm hysterical. Ask Wesley THIS IS WHY I LOVE HER
Gotta admit, Nolan and Bailey both trying to keep each other from finding out things to keep the other calm is pretty cute.
This DJ is so unhinged lol. Bailey shooed Nolan out being like "please don't arrest this guy and make our wedding even more difficult than it already is." First the switchblade, then a robbery, and the molly was the last straw 😂 Bailey's face said it all
Lucy being like, "ok, go ahead" and Tim saying "ladies first" I just-- 😂😂 They're so perfect for each other
Reason #95238 that Lucy Chen is amazing: "I have to look amazing in a dress tomorrow. Nobody care what you look like. He's huge. I'm not fighting him." Tim fighting this giant ass dude simply because his girlfriend asked him to will never not be hilarious and pretty adorable to me. And the fact that the only reason she didn't want to fight him was because she wanted to look good in her dress will never not be badass to me
The Hammer just THREW Tim into those cabinets, across a table, into a TV, over the back of a couch, and against a bed not once but twice. Tim HELD HIS OWN. I know it shouldn't have been, but it was really hot. Poor baby crawled to the coffee table for the ring. THEN, proceeded to hand it to his girlfriend while on one knee and bleeding. LUCY AND I ARE BOTH ABSOLUTELY FINE I PROMISE. He didn't realize it at first, but he definitely did once Lucy stood there stuttering at him. He tried to hand it to her and she just sort of froze. Her brain short circuited and he panicked, and it was all perfect. She still managed to compliment him on the fight though 😂
Lucy: Good job Tim: Yeah, thanks Lucy: You ok? Tim: Yeah, I'm great. *falls over*
It's too funny 😂😂
Angela and Nyla are bestie goals 😁🥰
I love the cuts between the bachelor and bachelorette parties
Celina bringing up Lucy's future bachelorette party because she knows that she and Tim are a forever kind of thing 😩
Lucy scooted so far into Tim, oh my God. Bestie was practically in his lap
Lucy: I knew it! You just kill them?! Tim: Yes! Because they're bugs.
I can't, they exasperated way Tim said 'yes!" was just hilarious to me
The little breath that Tim lets out before he says yes to loving Lucy was like, "Do you really even have to ask? Yes, of course I love you. There's no other option."
Tim and Lucy spotting each other across the courtyard and then again across the dance floor. They're always going to find each other whether it's buried alive in the desert or at a friend's wedding, which seems to be their thing now 😩
Aw Luna finishing her degree. I seriously love her and I love her and Grey together. He's so supportive of her, it's just so clear that they're a strong, loving unit
"Sit down, German" had me wheezing. Grey's delivery is everything 😂😂😂
Bailey's entrance was pretty adorable, ngl
A lot of people were saying how Bailey's vows were really beautiful and how it was so great seeing her say those things and mean it after she had been in an abusive marriage, and I couldn't agree more. She was right, what she said was simple, but it covered everything it needed to. And I think it was really beautiful in its simplicity. Nolan's vows were really great too. He's not normally great with words, but it was really sweet, and it's really obvious how much does cherish Bailey.
Ah and Henry made it!! I miss seeing him. I do wish we got to see Abigail too though. I LOVED her. Plus, their relationship is adorable.
The dance floor scene with everybody was so cute, omg!! I loved it. Everybody looked so happy and like they were having so much fun. Jenna even said it felt like a real wedding
Aaron and Celina watching Lucy look at Tim across the dance floor was amazing. They're so invested in their relationship, and I think it's hilarious. Chenford had groupies on screen too 🤭😂
I felt so bad for Aaron. He's not handling everything very well, and I do think he was kinda hyper-focusing on Celina a little. It's natural after a shared trauma like that. But he tried to kiss her and she shut him down. It was sad. I was really trying not to like them as a couple, but I kinda do now. IDK
Chenford rampage incoming:
It seems like they arrived separately, but they still sat together at the ceremony and honestly looked like they were enjoying themselves. So to me, that's just an other testament of how solid they are even if though they're fighting
Tim couldn't take it anymore and went pulled Lucy onto the dance floor. He knows they have more talking to do, but he wanted to be close to her. And her pulled her out to If I Ain't Got You of all songs. ARE YOU JOKING????? *squeaks* The way he looked at her when he walked over to her and the way Luna looked at Lucy AHHHHHH. Nope, Imma need a minute
Lucy dragged her hand down Tim's chest and looked him up and down and Tim leaning into her, looking at her lips like LET ME BREATHE
Lucy running her hand through his hair
AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME THIS WAS JUST A COINCIDENCE
Lucy did not say, "We're gonna get through this. I love you." with this playing in the background just for the hell of it
Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If I ain't got you, baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, yeah
IT WAS DELIBERATE BESTIES
More thoughts on their fight. Highly recommend checking out the points @sylvies-chen, @morganupstead, and @sisterofficerlucychen made. Of course, my thoughts are also in there
When Lucy said that she loved Tim, in true Chenford fashion, and despite the serious moment, Tim couldn't help but argue (affectionate) with her saying he wasn't sure until he hooked her up to a lie detector. Lucy smacking him. Ugh I just love their banter so much
Aaron came up behind them and Tim was so caught off guard. His facial expressions were very on point for annoyed!Tim. Plus, Aaron was right. Chenford is solid. I'm not worried about them. Is there going to be angst in the future? Yes. Is it going to break them? Not a chance. Their relationship is strong. It's built on friendship and mutual respect. Tim has always respected Lucy, even as a rookie. Yeah, she annoyed him, but she had the guts to stand up to him in ways that no other rookie did, or would have survived doing
EXSQUEEZE ME where you y'all coming from that you came up the stairs together??
end of chenford ramage
James offering to get everyone's go-bags and Wesley automatically jumping into help. They're helping their women and being good friends. I love it
"Sit you ass down and do some praying" This is why I love Tim 😂
Randy and Chastity being the responsible ones for once keeping Aaron occupied
Super random, but why does Nolan have police lights in his personal truck, but Tim doesn't? You'd think a Metro Liaison Sergeant having them would be more likely than a random training officer
Celina, my love, this is why you bring backup when you go to meet CIs
Tim in a dress shirt and tie with rolled up sleeves. Dear God 🥵🥵
I was not expecting Nolan to just throw the guy out the window. He's the most laid back out of all of him, and he didn't even hesitate, just pushed him out of at least a second story window. I-- 🤨😂
Poor Bailey flopped on the bed just still in her wedding dress 😂
#take a shot every time i say “i love-”#or maybe don't because then you might die#this is like 1500 words but i just had SO many thoughts#and i even linked a post instead of explaining something again so it wouldn't get even longer#enjoy the chaos#the rookie#lucy chen#tim bradford#chenford#john nolan#bailey nune#bailan#james murray#nyla harper#angela lopez#wesley evers#wopez#wade grey#luna grey#henry nolan#skip tracer randy

listen I think most discourse about this chenford fight is going to be pointless in the end because of how short-lived we all know it’s going to be so I don’t want to engage with it too much but I will say my only criticism is that I do feel lucy was made to be a bit overly hysterical. I don’t think that’s tim’s fault though, nor is it hers, because it’s a valid response to the big stress she’s going through right now. but also worth noting is that she did ask for tim to ride with her and to test her today. she did that knowing what tutor/teacher tim is like and she did that wanting to prove herself. maybe tim should have known when to step in or else the scene wouldn’t have been compromised and a real case wouldn’t have been jeopardized but I don’t think he could have dealt with lucy’s emotions and supported her any better.
as someone who is very much like lucy in that I get irrationally snippy when I’m flustered, under stress, feeling insecure, and doubting myself (mine and lucy’s 4 main moods I guess lol) I know that often nothing can be said in those moments that will make me see sense and feel calmer or more confident. external support can only go so far when you’re not practicing proper emotional regulation. that’s something everyone can work on and it’s not something lucy did wrong it just means she hadn’t grounded herself yet. also, tim knows her so so well but obviously he can’t always know the perfect thing to say to make her feel better. they may have known each other for years but their romantic relationship is still very new so he’s going to mess up and be imperfect. these are still new waters they’re navigating and I do lean more towards tim’s side with this one but I have empathy for lucy right now more than ever, because obviously it sucks to be teased at work for making a mistake. NOT COOL GUYS!
but yeah, those are my thoughts basically. I don’t think this little fight was ever meant to be that deep, rather just setting the foundations for potentially deeper angst with her being in danger during undercover ops so I really don’t want to make my thoughts needlessly profound here but I think it’s important to just be like “… yeah. that was a fight that they went through as a couple and it wasn’t pretty but it was fairly blameless and normal. it is what it is, now let’s move on and save energy for the bigger problems coming up in the season” because it’ll just weigh on me too much if I don’t let myself let it go lol
#abby goes bzzz!#like obviously you can like this fight or hate it I’m not gonna tell you how to feel about it#but I think this fight shouldn’t dictate your feeling on the show too much because the writers are so transparent to me in making up drama#meta#the rookie#chenford#abby liveblogs#lucy chen#tim bradford

We’re at the S1 finale. Hard to believe. Thank you all for staying on this journey with me it’s been super rewarding. When I started didn't expected the support I got. Also been fun to fill the hiatus with this since we're all waiting for S6. Not sure when this strike will end. So fun to rewatch the series this way. Rewatching s1 with analytical eyes and knowing where they are now has been eye opening. I’ve seen a lot of people writing about how writers said Chenford wasn’t meant to happen this early on. Idk that’s true with the incredible foundation that has been laid in s1.
The beautiful base that continues to solidly with each ep. Especially this finale. I think the finale is when if you hadn’t been shipping them before you were after this ep. I was all in day one I just knew it would be a slow burn before we got there. Also Eric and Melissa are amazing together. Drew me in right away. Their chemistry is unparalleled. Can’t deny that. Like I said in my first review I started watching for Nathan and Eric. Never knowing the beautiful ship I was gonna get along the way. Anyways off to the finale we go :)
1x20 freefall
It’s the week of their big test. It decides whether or not they get to continue on in the FTO program. You can get a score as low as an 80 and pass. To the T.O.’s that’s a fail. Tim tells a Lucy if she gets anything less than a 93 it’s an insult to him LOL Lucy doesn’t even let it phase her how far we’ve come. She continues on asking what he’s going to do with all his free time when she passes?
Tim is confused at first then realizes she’s talking about her daily evals. She suggests a book club haha Tim as far as he’s come is still Tim in T.O. mode around others. Gotta keep up the hard ass act. Tells her ‘Whether I evaluate you daily or weekly. I will continue to judge you every minute.’ haha damn Tim way to shut down her playful banter lmao
First call of the day for our lovely duo is at a psychic shop. Silent alarm has been tripped. Guy is going after this psychic because she ‘saw’ he killed his wife and is losing it on her. It was a fluke she figured it out and she says as much haha Afterwards she brazenly hits on Tim and he has no idea how to handle it.
His embarrassed face is everything. He wasn’t expecting that at all. It’s like he doesn’t know he is gorgeous ass man. The way he looks back at Lucy is priceless. Like please help me baha Lucy is enjoying it immensely. Her face says it all I’m dying. She isn’t helping him out of this one. He awkwardly walks away from the psychic it’s too damn funny. Tim Bradford left speechless. What world we live in haha
After a light start to their day it comes to serious halt. There’s a deadly virus and possible outbreak they all have to prevent. This came from the dead body Nolan and Bishop found earlier at the bus station. He was tied into the terrorist threat. This postpones their test naturally. Lucy and Tim are tasked with talking to one of the citizens that took same bus as this guy.
As they’re rolling up to this guys house Lucy says she thought the test was going to be the most stressful part of her day. Tim tells her best case scenario it’s tomorrows problem. Lucy makes a nervous joke 'What’s worst case scenario? Never mind don’t answer that' haha Oh Lucy the most stressful part of your day starts now.
The gentleman thinks they’re there to bring back his luggage. Tim enters the bedroom without Lucy. They tell Pete they are there just to interview him. He pulls out the bag he grabbed by mistake and shows Tim the ‘weird science equipment ‘inside. That he cut his finger on it looking for an address. Tim’s red flags are immediately up when he says this. Lucy can instantly tell something is up but Tim tells her to stay at bay. First instinct is always to protect her. Tim see’s the guys cut finger and alarm bells are going off for him. Lucy calls it in while she waits outside the bedroom for Tim.
The guy then coughs up blood on Tim. He freezes and looks the most panicked I've ever seen him. I LOVE how Eric can express so much with just a look. He's such a good actor I can not. After he collects himself a bit he hears Lucy coming to check on him and shuts the door instantly. Despite Lucy yelling ‘No!’ When he does.
Tim refuses to let her be around whatever this is even a second. Creating an immediate barrier to keep Lucy safe. He locks the door to keep her out there. Pete starts to freak out. Tim tells Pete that his partner has called an ambulance for them. Makes me happy while he’s trying to keep this guy calm he calls Lucy his ‘partner’ not his rookie but his partner. It’s the little things ❤️ Lucy is panicking like crazy on the other side of this door. She wants to be let in to help him. It’s killing her they’re separated right now.
Lucy is begging him to leave that guy in there and join her outside. Tim being the honorable man he is refuses to. Tells her they need to keep this as contained as possible. Lucy is panic stricken and wants to help him but is trapped outside. Tim is doing his best to keep her calm. The words he says I think are for them both. He just had blood spewed onto him. Tim is being as calm as one could be in that type of situation.
He’s the one in danger and his first thought is to put Lucy at ease. To try and keep her calm. To 'keep her head in the game' If she could see his face as he says these things...She would see how very not fine he is. The most rattled we’ve seen him the entire season. This moment and honestly this entire episode is definitely another huge crack in his wall with her. Letting that Lucy light seep in just a little bit more.
The CDC finally arrive and they set up a quarantine zone much to Lucy's dismay. She’s on the edge and wants to get Tim out of there ASAP. Can’t stand the idea of him sitting in there for an hour or more while they wait for the vaccine. Dr. Morgan asks him if she can put him to work while he’s in there. Tim says yes. Lucy tells him to please be careful while he’s in there. Such a worried wifey.
Tim uses his body cam to help them see inside the bag more. They figure out how they’re going to spread it through a mist fan. As Tim continues to search the bag they see Pete lifting a chair. Lucy freaks out and yells for Tim to watch out. All they see is him getting knocked out. Lucy is losing her mind outside not knowing what’s happening in that room. The absolute terror in her voice. My heart. How helpless she feels on the other side of that door.
Tim wakes up inches from the blood stain on the carpet rolling toward him. He’s able to get away from it and tases Pete. After that Tim gets him locked to the bed frame. All the while Lucy is losing it outside. Desperate to hear from him. Calling out his name multiple times. Begs Tim to answer her. She is out of her mind with worry. If she was allowed to break that door down she would.
Tim finally responds to Lucy tells her that he’s ok. She asks him if he’s really is. Because she knows him and how he tries to put a strong facade for her sake. Tim attempts to make a joke about it. His voice cracking a bit with worry. Trying to make jokes about this but his armor has been cracked. This a deflection right now more than anything else. His vulnerability coming out of him with her whether he likes it or not.
He can't hide anything from her and and Lucy picks up on his worry quickly. Knows he's attempting to mask how he is really feeling right now. She can hear it in his voice. From there she turns into ultra worried wife mode. She demands they get that damn vaccine here right now. She is losing her patience while he’s trapped in that room without her. Love me some assertive/worried Lucy.
I can't imagine what he is going through all by himself in that room. Poor Tim has to sit there and watch this guy die right in front of him. Can't help the man just has to sit there and watch him die. The look on his face ugh. The utter terror on his face. Lucy is already freaking out if she could see him…she would break down that damn door virus or not and drag him out of there.
Next begins the iconic wall separation scene. As I said earlier if you weren't shipping them before you sure as hell were after this moment. Lucy tells him she just checked with Dr Morgan. That the vaccine is minutes away. Tim instantly knows this is a lie to comfort him. Its here we see a chunk of his wall break off and hit the ground as he compliments her. Naturally she’s going to rib him about it (because she can't actually process when he does compliment her) but it's also to keep his head clear. Just like he's done for her so many times before.
The role reversal is so evident in this scene. Lucy is doing what he normally does for her. Trying to keep him calm by making jokes. Keeping it light. The smile on his face when she ask for it to be in writing is too precious. He needs Lucy and all her sunshine ways right now. He's holding onto to every word she is saying. She comforting/calming him just by being there for him.
This is such a huge moment of vulnerability for Tim. The biggest one of the entire season really. That bond they’ve built up to this point is result of that. Lucy tells him its going be ok that she truly believes that. Tim is so defeated at this point. He doesn't take much stock in her words. Eric and Melissa crush this scene. To have this good of a dynamic with a door between them. My goodness they're amazing. Like I said earlier Eric is incredible with how he conveys what he's feeling with a look. This scene has it in spades. Look at this poor man's face down below. Makes me wanna cry.
You can see his normal resolve is dissolving rapidly. Which is why Lucy is there to keep it intact. Tim looks like he’s on the verge of tears while she’s trying to comfort him. Lucy is trying to be his rock. Its why I think he is spilling his guts to her. He trusts her with his thoughts/feelings. Tim is being the most vulnerable he's ever been with her right now. Telling her everything. That if he ends up showing symptoms he’s not going to allow himself to die that way.
Gotta love Lucy trying to pick up the pieces and keep him together. Being as optimistic as she can while he is hopeless. For him to share such a dark thought is huge. That he would rather kill himself than die like that. He is emotionally exposing himself to her right now. In a way I’m sure he hasn’t since Isabel. This is a massive step for him entrusting her with his thoughts and emotions. Because right now Tim thinks this is it for him. If he's going out he wants to make sure she knows his plans.
Lucy is very aware what he is saying but is trying to talk him out if it. Desperately trying to keep his head level. She finally lets out a tear she's been holding the whole scene. He's considering killing himself and she can't do a damn thing about it. The stress of the situation finally getting to her when she sheds that tear. This is an iconic moment for them. Tim being so openly vulnerable with her and Lucy being there to receive it best way she can. Gah it’s all so good. This scene 'hurts so good' as they say. This moment is a milestone for them and their relationship. Where they go from just TO/Rookie to friends.
The vaccine finally arrives and Lucy tries to follow the doctor in. Dr. Morgan won’t let her since she is not protected. You can tell its killing her to have to stay back. That look they share between them when Dr. Morgan is checking him out. Phew lord. She says he dodged a bullet. The looks in this scene are so telling. These two have a masters in silent communication. That look of worry/panic on her face. She wants to run up and hug him. That clearly isn’t in the cards. So she just intently watches him. Lucy doesn’t take her eyes off him the entire time.
The way he stares back at her and lets her know it’s ok. I’m ok. Even the small smirk towards the end. They just went through something very emotional and intense together. Tim says so much with just a look for her. Yeah he dodged bullet and he did so because of Lucy. She didn't leave his side for a second. He recognizes this and conveys it in a look. Such an intimate moment for them with no words. God I love them.
Before this episode ends Let’s take a moment to enjoy Tim Bradford in a tight white T-shirt shall we? Mmm. Yum. The rest join Lucy and Tim at Pete's house. Having returned from taking down the other culprits. They’re all making jokes now that they know he’s ok. Saying how he’ll refuse to take the ambulance or wheelchair haha
As they’re making their jokes Tim walks to said ambulance. As he does he looks light headed and collapses. All jokes stop and they rush around him. Lucy being the first they hold her back. Thus ends s1 with a cliffhanger.
I think I watched this finale a disgusting amount of times haha I was so eager for s2 and more of Tim/Lucy. To see what happens to Tim in the premiere and all that.

Next week's episode, I imagine, Tim will end up learning to let people in and accepting help. Another character growth for him, while Lucy isn't even allowed to really feel the emotional consequences of her near fatal shooting. It's already as if nothing happened and she's over it, nothing comes back to haunt her.
To me, the biggest turn off of this show/ship is this unbalance of storylines and depth between the character, the female one always getting the short end of the stick.
Hi anon!
Thank you for the meaty, thoughtful ask! Definitely some thoughts here that are right up my alley.
I'm going to start by saying I have genuinely been surprised by and happy with this season so far. Season 6, at least for Chenford, has felt like a return to the to the show's earlier roots of being truly character-driven. And I mention that simply because I still see a LOT of potential for Lucy's storyline this season.
This is the first time in YEARS we've had a multi-episode storyline seeded for Lucy, and I'm over the moon about it. With that said, the show still has its issues, and I completely get what you're saying.
While the moment with the radio was sweet and I can appreciate the sentiment, I agree that it was actually quite strange that we went from Lucy being devastated by the idea of almost killing someone to Tim framing something that will forever remind her of that moment and them smiling and laughing about it. I think in the show's attempts to deliver fan service, there isn't always someone asking: is this actually something a normal person with human emotions would do? 😂
So yeah, in making that choice, it did seem like they'd swept the shooting storyline under the rug and were moving on.
That said, I will be completely flabbergasted (and legitimately outraged) if there's not more to come in terms of Lucy's broader storyline, including her having to come to terms with her feelings about all of the challenges she's faced this season. We're coming off of multiple episodes that were very focused on Lucy's emotional state around the detectives exam and the aftermath, so I understand why they've shifted to seeding a storyline for Tim for a little bit, but I'd argue that as much as this episode gave us some (tbh kind of convoluted 😬) backstory for Tim, it was just as much about how Tim's actions impacted Lucy.
I'd argue that it was WAY easier to empathize with Lucy this episode than it was to with Tim (minus Eric's teary-eyed "Understood" that was an act of violence against us all). And tbh I'm not sure if that was intentional, but I'm more than okay with it.
For me, this was one of Lucy's best episodes in a long time -- this is the badass, take no shit woman from Seasons 1 and 2. She loves Tim dearly, and we know it must have killed her to ask him to leave, but she still found the strength to stand up for herself. She knows she deserves to be treated as an equal partner, and she demanded that Tim either provide that or go. And for her to be able to do that amidst everything else her character has been through in just the first 4 episodes of this season was IMO phenomenal (and so, so painful but absolutely needed) to see.
I couldn't agree harder though with your broader point -- the show has seemed very lopsided in terms of giving Tim lots and lots of backstory and multiple opportunities to grow and evolve, and then can't even be bothered to keep track of Lucy's parents names😭. It genuinely sucks. And they have so much to make up for.
They've given Lucy plenty of screen time and they've put her through tons of shit. I just think they haven't seemed to have had much interest in really exploring the actual impact on her character in any meaningful way, until now (I hope!).
And to be clear, I have zero interest in seeing Lucy simply tag-along on Tim's story for the rest of the season. I love that they are going to be together; I love that they are getting to support each other, but Lucy needs (and deserves) a fitting conclusion to her own story.. And if they don't give her one...
Thanks for the ask anon!

Just popping in to say I hope you have a great weekend!
And also, a few asks...
-What's your favorite story you've written?
-Is there an idea you have for a story you want to write, but haven't yet?
-What are you enjoying most this season?
-What's something you want to see this season that you haven't yet?
Ahhhh thank you Becca! I hope you have a lovely one as well! Also these asks are so fun, thank you 💛 I appreciate being included 🙈
-What's your favorite story you've written?
I truly don't think I've written any really remarkable ones for Chenford, but you drew stars (around my scars) has a special place in my heart. I just always found it odd that they chose that day/storyline to completely remove Tim from Lucy's life, especially since they went through that together in a way. I love writing codas and episode fix-its and I think that might be my fave I've written.
-Is there an idea you have for a story you want to write, but haven't yet?
Oh... you have no idea how many. I have a Montana ranch AU somewhere, barely started. One that's really more a concept than anything at the moment, is a sort of a sugar daddy situation AU, then I have a post 4x01 accidental dating fic, Tim gets amnesia fic, Safe Haven AU, a UC fic where Isabel is Lucy's handler when she gets hooked on drugs and Lucy and Tim find themselves with a shared secret. And most recently a 6x03 companion fic, sort of giving Lucy a moment to feel sad about no passing the exam, which I will most likely not finished because I'm not feeling that motivated atm.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg, I have many smaller fics half started or brainstormed and waiting. Seriously the sheer volume of the fics I brainstorm and don't write should be illegal. 🙈
-What are you enjoying most this season?
Honestly? The fact that Tim and Lucy are communicating with each other and that they obviously seem to both be in it 100%. I had my fears going into this season, given how season 5 left it. But I truly think they'll be okay. I love all their scenes this season, so far. Even the angst.
-What's something you want to see this season that you haven't yet?
Lucy having a support system in place, getting the help she needs and getting acknowledgement for once.

The list just arrived. You're number 8 out of 140. Yes! I knew it. Congratulations… Sergeant Bradford. Not a sergeant yet. At eight on the list, it'll probably take six months or so. Actually, there's a position opening in North Hollywood. The captain there owes me a big favor. If you want, I can make it happen. You'd start in two weeks. T-Two weeks? Uh -- Uh, can I think about this overnight?
| ANATOMY OF A SCENE - CHENFORD EDITION 2.13 - Follow-up Day
Moments like this one are exactly why Grey saw Tim and Lucy's relationship coming from a mile away… And really, it is no wonder that these two were so bad at hiding it : they've always been so transparent and it's particularly the case here.
Tim's journey to becoming a sergeant is quite interesting for several reasons. Mainly because it is intrinsically linked to Lucy. From how she was helping him unwind after work, making sure he wouldn't just be consumed by patrol and studying… To the audiobooks - plural - she made for him… To the way she was trying to be supportive when he was doubting himself… To this moment when Grey announces the results… And let's talk about how proud the man is that Tim scored this high. He couldn't even wait to tell him - to the point where he is even ready to cash in a favor to help him get a great position right away. Their dynamic is so underrated, the show focusing more on Grey and Nolan, but you can genuinely feel the respect Tim and Wade have for each other.
And Tim looks so proud of himself as well, despite how muted his reaction is. We saw earlier a sneak peek of his nervousness, of his worry about the scores. And this is so different from the way he is going to react upon learning that he is joining Metro later on. Lucy, on the other hand, has absolutely no qualms about being overtly enthusiastic in her response. She is proud and loud… And she is the cutest bean here. The way she radiates happiness for Tim is so pure… And so is her 'I knew it'. It truly shows how she never doubted him, how much she already believes in him. Her enthusiasm is so blatant - until Grey and Tim turn towards her and she suddenly remembers where she is. But even once she tones down her response, trying to be more professional, she can't help but bounce on her feet a little and congratulate him. And of course Tim immediately downplays his achievement, warning her that he won't be promoted right away. The way she fondly rolls her eyes at him when he says this… And most importantly, the way their faces fall the second Grey offers him a position in another station… One that he could get in two weeks, instead of having to wait for months… Something that neither ever envisaged. Lucy's stuttering… How their smiles just drop… This is honestly so much louder than her previous reaction. Especially once Tim asks for some time to think about the offer. What's so telling is that not once he asks Grey about the job itself. Not once does it come into consideration. This is all about the fact that he might have to leave the station in two weeks. That he might have to leave Lucy behind. And judging by Grey's own reaction, when he shifts his gaze towards her, he knows exactly what is bothering Tim… And I have a feeling that he wasn't surprised at all by his final answer.

Aside from each other, obviously, who is your favourite character for Tim and Lucy to each interact with? (So basically, your favourite non-Chenford relationship for each of them — platonic, professional, or otherwise.) And, who is the one character you wish they would each interact with more?
Thank you for your patience with this ask that was sent to me ages ago!!
Okay favourite non-Chenford relationship for Tim has got to be him and Angela. Him being man of honour at her wedding? Her being the only person he could open up to when his life was imploding around him? Just the best. I love their friendship so much.
I wish Tim got to interact more with Genny. While I'm not entirely sure how she could fit into the story at this point, I think that there's potential for her to help him heal as he pulls his broken pieces together in the aftermath of season 6. Tim needs love right now more than ever, and I think Genny and his nephews could help with that.
As for Lucy, favourite non-Chenford relationship for me is her and Tamara. They grew so close and came to support each other in so many ways, and I just love seeing their bond. While it's a bummer that they don't live together anymore and we won't see Tamara as much, I do love that Lucy successfully fostered her puppy off of the streets and into life as a confident, independent young adult.
I would love to see Lucy interact more with Nyla. Whenever she's had the chance to mentor Lucy, it's always been so interesting. Nyla must see some of herself in Lucy, because she seems to understand her and know how to coach her. I don't know if Lucy is headed toward UC work or the detectives' table anymore, but whatever the case may be, I bet Nyla can give her some good advice to help her get there.
Thanks again for the ask! I really loved receiving it.

6x09 aka you've got this just two more episodes left and each one has a great Chenford moment so it's on the up and up now. We've hit rock bottom, we can do this; says the very stable woman to herself. Grey is such a good protective dad. Tim, please. Honey. Okay so it's Lucy's birthday and aside from that card from Tim and Aaron's mention of a present, she gets literally nothing else. Maybe there's something off-screen. But nothing from John? He just waltzes in, there for Celina, and just not a little hap birf? He asks how she is and obviously didn't expect her to be honest. Doesn't offer her a hug or pat on the shoulder. A sympathetic 'I'm sorry, you've been through a lot lately, hey let's go get drinks and catch up after shift'. You're meant to be her friend, John. Agh. Okay, Angela earns points back for telling Lucy. She knows Lucy has been left out of so much and knows Lucy still cares about Tim. Hell, she knows Lucy still loves him. So Angela knows how important it is that Lucy know what happened this time. So yes, Angela, you get points back. Kudos. Also the fact that she seems to tell Lucy but Wesley wasn't aware? Or maybe he's surprised she's telling Lucy? Idk. And can I just with the sweet way Lucy says hi when she answers the phone? Actual sushine. No-one deserves her. No-one. Maybe Kojo but no-one else. But yes, Angela is slightly back in my good books for that. And a good mirror for telling Tim back in S2 about Lucy at the speed dating having a moment. Because she thought he'd want to know. Detective Lopez will always be the captain of this ship. I was ready to mutiny but I'll trust her at the helm a little longer. I need some Chenford teasing from her in S7 when she seems them back in a better place though. God, Lucy's face when Tim calls Nolan and not her. And it's because he's his union rep, Lucy knows that, but you can still see that hurt. Also, Nolan, where the fuck was her union rep during the shooting? HUH?! HUH?! Ahem. Charlie you're better than this client. Also Monica that dress might look vaguely fashionable but that is not a comfortable dress. At all. Not even like 1% comfortable. C'mon. Also your offices look like shit. Blair, I have zero pity for you. You absolutely deserve whatever comes your way. Do they have zero cameras in the parking lot? Or anywhere? Don't you go after Grey you asshole! Gaaah. Must protect my fictional babies. Baby Jackson is adorable as heck. I imagine invisible baby girl Wopez is too. God, Lucy is just too good for this world. She has so much resentment and anger and guilt and anxiety and pain inside of her and she pushes past it all to check on Tim. She knows he's going through hell and it's killing her to not to be able to support him. She knows, at the very least, he needs a hug. And Lucy hugs are magical.
Can we talk about Tim's face? He looks terrified. I also want to hazard that there is the barest hint of hope. For a second I really think he thought she might try to kiss him. Or maybe just hoped. It wouldn't have been good for either of them, but there's probably a part of him dying for her to kiss him. Just for a second. But the hug. Oh god the hug. He melts into it instantly. No hesitation. He's in her arms and surrounding her body with his own and he is gone. He's safe. It's a fleeting moment but he is safe. His eyes are closed and he just sinks into her so completely. "I am now" Oh my god. The way their voices both shake. The way she holds him even tighter and closes her eyes. For a second they can both forget the past few weeks/months ever happened. They're together and they're in each other's arms - the safest they've ever felt. And they both leave the hug at the same time. No-one initiates it ending. They're in sync and holding contact that extra secons. She fixes his collar. She's so gentle with him. Like she needs to be touching him too. The hug isn't just for him. She needs to know he's okay. Angela's eyes instantly going to Lucy when the door opens and staying on Lucy until Nyla takes her away. Also, girls, you're both still minus points for how you've treated Lucy. You can't go ignoring her after the detective's exam and everything else and then go dragging her into your UC op. Admit you need her. Admit you respect her. Admit she's good. Make it up to her. Got it? Good. Continue. Celina, absolute cutie. Also I will say fair play to Nolan for doing this for Tim. Wish we could see the same commitment to Lucy but I guess if situations were reversed then I'm sure everyone would go to bat for Lucy. They just let her down when it comes to her personal life and supporting her as a person. God I'd love to see them all go to bat for her. Nell! Oh, I read the best fic about Lucy and Tim sort of getting back together at Nell's wedding. We need a Nell wedding so we can have another Chenford dance please and thank you. How are you with kids? Nyla, stop breaking my headcanon of Lucy babysitting Lila and being an absolute angel around the station babies. Stop it. Also, minus points for both of you for not even giving Lucy the barest of sympathetic smiles or shoulder pats after she tells you about her still feeding her UC covers because she thought she'd make detective. The sad little smile when she tries to push aside her own feelings and disappointment. Because she doesn't want to burdern anyone with her feelings. MINUS POINTS. Bad friends! Bad colleagues! Charlie, can you just do a bad job at protecting Monica? Please? Can we have a Celina seance fic, please? God Lucy is so good at UC. Also my god how can she look so good in literally every outfit and with every hairstyle? Also those kids are fucking adorable. Lucy underselling her language skills for a UC cover because then they'd be sus at how perfect she is. Any fics where Tim finds out Lucy's gone UC at Bautista's and goes a little feral on Angela and Nyla because there's a leak in the station and her cover could already be blown? Though at this point I don't think Lopez and Harper are aware of that, but still, he's doing a frantic spiral. That he didn't get to speak to her beforehand. That he has no involvement in her UC op and he's terrified of being in the dark about it? Grey raising his voice YES. Oscar I'm enjoying you a lot less because you're always attached to Monica now. Sorry. Lucy literally an amazing babysitter. She is actually the best. Ugh. Monica. Just leave. I would happily trade a million Bailan scenes to have no more Monica. Wanna say thank you to Lucy for risking everything going undercover again with Monica fully aware of who she is? No? Minus points, ladies. Smitty, just hold onto your phone. Please. The bare minimum. Blair, shut up. Never wanted anyone to get hurt. Bullshit.

How did you find The Rookie ep 13? How do you feel about chenford?
Hi, Anon! Thanks for the question, and sorry for taking so long to answer. :)
I really liked the episode! (As always, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and we all come from different perspectives and watch through our own lenses.) Personally, for me at the moment, "The Rookie" and Chenford in particular are a happy escape. I haven't been in the mood for a literary analysis approach to viewing lately and am instead just soaking in all the love, joy, and humor in each episode.
This episode included some wonderful examples of friendship, love, and support among a great group of people. Highlights for me included of course the collaboration at Nolan's house and then Tim and Grey supporting Celina. I'm a fan of Tim's softer side and how he's always looking out for those around him. I also loved seeing Grey connect with the newest officer and offer her tender support. I've noticed multiple examples in the show of kind, caring leadership styles on display, and I love it.
About Chenford, I am really pleased. To me, the pacing and everything makes sense. It feels so natural. Obviously, not every single moment or conversation will be shown onscreen, but in the fictional world they are taking place and contribute to relationship development. I like being able to fill in some of the blanks on my own. I also like that some weeks are a little less emotional than others. Not every episode can or should be full of a Chenford emotional high--many of us fans couldn't take it! :oD Some calmer episodes are good as well, just highlighting the natural flow of a relationship. I trust that important things will be revisited later on (like Lucy not being open with Tim how that position became available). Looking forward to tonight's episode as well!

Chenford + the discuss the fake proposal
Oh yea! I think this is an important topic!
You belong with me (been here all along)
Chenford + talk about the fake proposal
Lucy closed her eyes rubbing her temple. She had a headache, it had been a long day and all she wanted to do was go home, eat take out and relax with Tim. The thing was metro hours were crazy and sometimes he didn’t get home till late and she was already asleep no matter how hard she tried to stay awake. Hopefully tonight was one of those nights where he got off at a decent time and came over and they just don’t the day go.
She had run into the convenience story to grab some Advil, so this damn headache would go away. She wasn’t looking where she was going and ran into someone.
“Oh I’m sorry..” She looked up to see Ashley, looking at her confused.
“Lucy?”
“Oh hi!” She said trying to sound cheerful. She didn’t know how it had ended with Tim and Ashley just that it was enough to make him cranky as hell.
“How are you?” Asked Ashley cheerfully.
“I’m fine. And you?” Ashley smiled at her
“It’s weird without Tim, ya know. I will always love him. But he wants to do a dangerous job and I can’t support that.”
Lucy stared at her a little dumbfounded. She was beyond confused. She knew much like relationship with Chris, Tim had stayed with Ashley because she was safe. But he didn’t tell her she broke up with him because of his job. Because Tim wouldn’t conform to her standards.
“How is Tim?” Asked Ashley sounding genuinely curious.
“He’s fine.” Said Lucy straightening up. “He’s good. More than good.”
“Is he seeing anyone?”
Lucy tried not to smile. Because yes he was but she didn’t want to give off too much.
“I think so.” Was all Lucy said.
“Oh.” Replied Ashley and she sounded disappointed.
Too bad thought Lucy. You let him go. He’s where he belongs now.
“You know.” Said Ashley fidgeting with the bottle in her hands. “I always thought you two would get together. That night when he fake proposed to me.. it seemed more than just a prank. And god that double date. He was way more into you than me.” She shrugs. “You guys just seem like magnets. You just can’t seem to stay away from each other.”
Lucy grinned to herself. If she only knew.
Ashley continued not waiting for Lucy’s reply.
“That fake proposal. He wanted to get back at you. But I don’t know.. I always felt like it was something more. He just seemed like he wanted you more than anything. And then you guys went undercover and he never seemed the same after that. At least not with me.”
Lucy knew that, she wasn’t the same either. That undercover operation brought out feelings she didn’t even know she had.
“When he “proposed” to you-” She shuddered because as okay as she seemed with it, she really was crushed that night. “It was more than a prank?” Was all she managed to get out. She thought it was just a prank, a way to get back at her for being annoying all day in the shop.
Ashley shrugged and she started to walk away. “If it doesn’t work with this other girl, which it won’t by the way.. maybe you should try. It will always be you for him Lucy.”
She walked away leaving Lucy a little stunned.
Lucy got home before Tim, but he came in about fifteen minutes after her. She was still reeling from her conversation with Ashley. As upset as she was that she had broken with Tim for selfish reasons (she was upset because she knew it hurt Tim.). She was grateful because he was hers now.
“Hey.” Tim sat down on the couch next to her handing her an already opened beer. She took it without looking at him. She was still going over Ashley’s words in her head. It just seemed that he wanted you more than anything. Did Tim’s feelings actually go back that far? Even before Jake and Sava and Vegas?
“What’s wrong?” Asked Tim after a few minutes of silence.
Lucy finally turned to look at him, hoping her face didn’t give anything away. But she knew he would be able to see through her lies if she didn’t tell him so..
“Um I ran into Ashley. She just asked about you. I told her you might be seeing someone.”
Tim eyes widened but he didn’t say anything waiting for Lucy to continued.
“She said when you fake proposed to her.” She saw him wince, a flint of emotions flashing across his face. “Lucy..” but she shook her head wanting to continue because she wanted to know.
“That it was more than just to get back at me. That it was- you wanted me.”
Tim was silent before opening his arms and Lucy readily climbed into them. He pulled her right against his chest. “She’s right. I mean I don’t think I really realized it then. How intense my feelings for you were. But I was telling myself it was just to get back at you. I am so sorry Lucy. I didn’t mean to hurt-”
But Lucy was shaking her head. “I don’t realize how I felt either Tim. Not until I saw you down on one knee and it felt like a knife through my heart. But I pushed through because I never thought you would feel the same. And I thought it was too late-”
Tim held her closer as if that was possible. “I am so sorry Lucy.. I really was trying to be funny but-” Lucy cut him off by kissing him and properly silencing him.
“It’s okay Tim. We are here now and we are over being stupid and pushing our feelings down.”
Tim nodded but he didn’t look convinced that she was ok with it. So Lucy continued.
“Look we both did stupid things. I was stupid for saying I had feelings for you as a prank. You fake proposed to Ashley. We both made mistakes baby, it doesn’t mean we don’t deserve to be exactly where we are.”
Tim kissed her temple, “Okay.” They were silent for a few more minutes., enjoying the warmth of each other.
“What else did she say?” Asked Tim. Lucy smirked at him a little.
“She said when it doesn’t work with the girl you are with now, that I should give you a chance. And apparently it won’t work because it will always be me for you.”
Tim was beaming at her in his own Tim way. “Again she’s not wrong. It will always be you for me. It always has been, always will be.”
“Good.” Said Lucy. “Because it always been been you for me too.”
Tim kissed her temple again.
“I wouldn’t change a thing.” He muttered. Lucy looked up at him curiously.
“What?”
“Everything- everyone that happened led us to exactly where we are. I wouldn’t change it because we needed to see it, experience it before we got here.” He said smiling down at her.
“I agree.” Was all she said because he was right. Everything happened for a reason and Ashley was one of them.
They sat there, Lucy head on his chest drinking in the presence of each other. This was most definitely their forever.

For the Fandom Meme: Come At me Friend/ABC Ask Game A, G, J, O, P, and Y
Ooh thanks for the ask
A - Your current OTP(s)/OT3(s)/OTX(s): Buddie from 9-1-1 no matter how much I am enjoying Buck and Tommy my heart will forever belong to Buck and Eddie. Wincest from Supernatural always and forever. Kakashi x Obito from Naruto. Klaus x Bonnie from TVD. I love all Bonnie pairings but Klaus and Bonnie is my OTP. Dick/Tim/Jason from Batman/DC Comics. Gambit/Rogue/Magento from X-Men all media Tony/Bucky from MCU
G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it: That would be Janto from Torchwood. I had other pairings I liked but it wasn't until I saw Janto that I fell deeply in love and truly got into fandom spaces.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr: That would have to be the Rookie I never saw the show but seeing it all over my dash from people I follow has gotten me interested in it and once the hiatus for shows begin I will start watching it but I am already beginning to ship Chenford.
O - Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of: Hold on to Me by Lauren Daigle is a perfect Buddie song when they are at their lowest or most vulnerable they always have each other to lean on who will support them.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas): the world of magic is kept hidden and apart from the human world, it once wasn't but because of the growing hate in humans developed it was done to protect itself but certain people have been given the gift of magic as a way to test if the world of humanity is changing enough to lower the barrier and allow the two worlds to once again co-exist. Said person does not appreciate not being asked if wanting such a responsibility and must learn to control their gifts while coming to terms that everything that exists in fairy tales is real.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them): The Rookie, F1, Homestuck. Danny Phantom, Newer seasons of Doctor Who, The Boys, Big Sky, House, Sherlock(TV Show) and the X-Flies. The X-Flies I am slowly beginning to watch but aren't in the fandom.
